The MHL Cable for Samsung Galaxy S5 is a micro USB to HDMI adapter that screen mirrors Android to a HDTV at 1080p with a long cable length.
A 'must-have' accessory designed to connect your device to your TV for viewing (mirroring) content on a larger screen.
This state-of-the-art technology uses the micro USB connector to send both the audio and video signal via HDMI and charge your device via USB 2.0 at the same time.
MHL briefly explained...
- The MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) Consortium was formed to develop a new mobile audio and video interface standard.
- This involves easily connecting mobile phones and other portable consumer electronics devices to HDTVs and external displays.
- The MHL standard features a single-cable with a low pin-count interface able to support up to 1080p high-definition video and digital audio while simultaneously charging the connected device.

Wow. I ordered this MHL cable with express delivery yesterday afternoon and have just picked it up from the post office, super impressed as I'm not in a metropolitan center so I expect things to take a little longer than usual to arrive.

My initial experience was disappointing as I couldn't get a connection with my new Bauhn (Aldi) smart tv, or my older Sony.
It did work straight away on my old Conia TV.
After some great discussion with Yani, I eventually tried rebooting my phone in safe mode, and then it connected. Rebooting back in normal mode resulted in maintaining the connection :)
We believe that it was one or more of my apps on the phone that was blocking the initial setup. Once past that, it is working a treat

Plug and play. That's all I did. Mirrors in 1080p. Also backwards compatible with my Galaxy S4.
