The new dual voltage system under the hood safely and efficiently regulates power output "over the air" to quickly charge compatible mobile phones using either a 5V or 9V current (depending on their chipset).
If you're constantly on-the-go and your device supports Quick Charge or Adaptive Fast Charging* then you'll take advantage of the extra battery top-up speeds.
No need to worry though, it's completely safe and is backwards compatible with traditional wireless charging devices that charge at normal speeds.
